The smell of the soup was most annoying because i was hungry! Just water (or whatever it was) didn't help much and even the thought of me flavouring said soup didn't stop the hunger pangs. The Orcs became more and more fractious and I could only assume imtoxicated. They were having quite a party - either that or an all out fight was imminent. Eventually it all went quiet except for the sounds of Orcs snoring, which is not a sound I ever want o hear again. Even now if I have a partner who snores, the relationship doesn't last long. Then a most surprising thing happened. Orc Jnr. appeared with what I can only assume was a smile on his face (it really is hard to tell with Orcs). Leaning over me, he offered me a key. Not just any key it transpired, but the key to the collar and manacles that kept me chained to the wall. I needed no encouragement, I was out of those chains before you could say "casserole". Orc Jnr. showed me where my stuff was and the way out. Why he did this, I do not know. Nor did i hang about to find out. I was off. I got my sword and what was left of my stuff in the sack. Orc Jnr. refused to give me my bow. To be honest, I don't blame him. It was a magnificent bow. I'll get another and I had something far more importatnt ... freedom. I was alive and running. Oh did I run. I was weak from lack of food, bruised from the beatings ... but I ran like theĀ ..... well not the wind perhaps, more of a stiff breeze. But I ran ... and I did not stop, nor did I look back. Not for a long time ......

I had to stop in the end .... I was exhausted. Found a high spot and looked back for signs of pursuit. There was none. All I needed now was to find a blacksmith, preferably one who didn't want a naked, ready made, collared and cuffed, "elf slave". But that's a story for another day. Today I was free.
